AP Poll Is All Funked Up
What does Wisconsin have to do to get a modicum of respect from the Associated Press poll? The 12-2 Badgers are back in the Top 25 this week after dispatching formerly seventh-ranked Michigan State yesterday, which is a good start, but UW only placed 21st in the poll. That’s behind 10-3 West Virginia, 11-3 Boston College, and the 12-4 Spartans, who have yet to win a conference game and only fell seven spots after the loss. Check it: the Badgers, Indiana, and Northwestern are currently the only Big 10 teams that are undefeated in conference games, yet the Hoosiers are ranked #8 and the Wildcats failed to place. Illinois and Ohio State have both lost one, and they are both ranked higher than the Badgers. At least the ESPN/USA Today poll has UW ranked 17th, but even in that poll they still trail the other Big 10 schools. Come on!

Don’t get too worked up about the polls. In college hoops they change so much from week to week and when it all comes down to it, it really doesn’t matter all that much. It’s not like it is in football where it’s the only measuring stick. Sure, it’s nice to see the rankings, but what matters is what’s done at the end of the season, March.

Sage words, great Oracle. But it still gets my dander up.
