Zero Zip Nada Zilch

Great galloping ghosts of Scooter McLean, what a demoralizing turn of events that was. Zero points? I was mentally prepared for a loss to the Bears, but not a shutout fer crying out loud. The Packers couldn’t sustain a drive deeper than the 35-yard line, and that ended in a missed field goal. They were 1 and 11 on third down. They made Wrecks Grossman look like a pro bowler. To say that Green Bay on Sunday was woefully incompetent would be generous.

And now to top things off, Ted Thompson has gone and signed Koren “not safe at any speed” Robinson, marking the Packers as the most desperate team in the league. Even the Raiders woke up from their hashish daze and cut the Jeff George experiment short. Why is Thompson still living in this fantasy world where Robinson is of any use to anybody? As a wideout he was known more for dropping passes than catching them and I really don’t think that the kick return game was the reason Green Bay didn’t score any points against Chicago. If the Packers are going to add free agents, how about someone who can actually help the team, like an offensive lineman who can block, or a tight end who can catch a pass and not fall down, or a safety who doesn’t get burned on the sixth play of the game. I just don’t understand.

I appreciate your Scooter Mclean reference. I’m too young to have watched him, but I have read about his incompetence and inability to lead. If McCarthy is our Mclean, does this mean that we have the next Lombardi waiting in the wings?

It would be great to think so.

[...] rout was the worst pounding the Packers had handed the Bears since 1994, almost making up for the 0-26 loss we suffered at the start of McCarthy’s rookie season. It wasn’t just a dominating [...]
