Minnesota Knows A Winner When It Sees One

Best Vikings fan picture I could findAnd apparently this year’s Vikings squad isn’t.

According to a story in today’s Press-Gazette, the Lavender and Lace has thousands of unsold tickets and are facing the possibility of a TV blackout for the first time in a decade. The team has filled just 56,000 seats for the season opener against the Atlanta Falcons, leaving them almost 6,000 shy of the sellout that will keep the game on television.

Why has Heliotrope Nation turned against their horn-headed heroes? I thought Brad Childress was the second coming of Bud Grant, and what about the first coming of Adrian “Purple Jesus” Peterson? In any case you’d think having all those former Packers on the roster would put a few Svens and Olies in the seats.

Somewhere, I imagine, Leif Erikson is sobbing in his pickled herring.
