The Season Is Here For The Badgers

Bucky BadgerI love days were I get in three posts, and what better way to end it than with something about the Wisconsin Badgers? UW opens its 2007 campaign tomorrow at Camp Randall against Washington State and I feel pretty confident they’ll get off to a very good start.

The Badgers are looking to get some respect around college football this year and solid win over a quality opponent like WSU will be a great start. PJ Hill is coming off a huge rookie season and I think he’ll perform even better this year. Tyler Donovan should give Wisconsin a boost at the quarterback position and he has a lot of weapons to throw to, especially the now healthy Travis Beckum and wide out Paul Hubbard. The defense returns a lot of starters as well, and they should have another solid year.

That’s not to say this game will be easy. The Cougars have an experienced squad, including quarterback Alex Brink who threw for almost 2,900 yards and 19 touchdowns last year, while running back Dwight Tardy is coming off a season in which he gained more than 4.5 yards a carry. WSU nearly beat USC in 2006 and a couple weeks later did succeed in upsetting Oregon.

I’m really looking forward to this game tomorrow and the start of what I think is going to be a very special year for the Wisconsin Badgers.

Go Bucky!
