The Great Dayne Scores

In our continuing effort to keep tabs on former Wisconsin players now in the NFL, we catch up with Ron Dayne who has been carrying the load down in Houston while Ahman Green nurses a knee injury. This week against Miami, The Great Dayne racked up 40 yards on 16 carries and scored his first touchdown of the season. He also had a pass reception for five yards.

Teammate Owen Daniels, meanwhile, had another solid game for the Texans, catching six passes for 96 yards. For the season, the former UW tight end has 293 receiving yards. Jamar Fletcher, also playing for Houston, had three tackles in the game, while on the opposite sideline, Chris Chambers caught two passes for 19 yards.

Jim Leonhard didn’t suit up for last night’s game between Dallas and Buffalo because of a calf injury he suffered against the Jets last week. I couldn’t find anything definite but it doesn’t sound too bad so hopefully he won’t be off the field for any extended length of time.

Lee Evans, who did play, only caught one pass for 12 yards, but his biggest play was probably chasing down Terence Newman. The Cowboys corner intercepted a pass from Trent Edwards and looked like he might go the distance, but Evans managed to save a touchdown. (Tony Romo was intercepted on the next series.) In the end, though, the Bills still managed to lose the game.
