I Still Can’t Predict Football Games

Even in this college football season where nothing has gone according to the script, it’s good to see one constant remains: I still can’t predict football games to save my life.

Yes, I did pick the Badgers to win over Indiana yesterday, but was it a close game? Far from it. UW rolled to an easy 33-3 win with a stifling defense that created five turnovers and allowed just 258 yards of offense from the Hoosiers. Now that’s the sort of defensive performance we thought we’d be getting all season long. The question is was this a one-time deal or can they bring it again next week against Ohio State.

The offense got back to basics as well, running the ball for 279 yards and dominating the time of possession. P.J. Hill had to come out of the game in the first quarter with an injury. That left Lance Smith and Zach Brown to carry the load: Smith had 15 carries for 79 yards and two touchdowns, while Brown gained 40 yards and a scored once on 14 carries. Luckily, coach Beilema said afterwards that Hill had a bruise on the top of his foot and that the x-rays were negative, so he should be ready to go against the Buckeyes.

One thing that did suck about the game was that it was not on TV, or at least any TV that I can get. Stupid Big Ten Network.

As for the Penn State-Buckeyes game, yeah I completely missed that one: Ohio State clobbered the Lions 37-17 in primetime. But that means Wisconsin could still play the king maker next week by knocking off Ohio State. Maybe it’s not likely to happen, but if the UW defense plays like it did yesterday, the Badgers could make things very difficult for the Buckeyes.

I don’t care if the Badgers win or loose. They won’t let us poor people watch them on TV. I think that sucks

I was looking for a good Wisconsin site and came upon yours. I wanted to extend to you a running wager I have going with blogs that cover teams Ohio State is playing. The wager is simply this, if the Badgers win on Saturday, you get a guest post on Halftime Adjustments. If the Buckeyes win, then I get a guest post on your site. Either way it has been good for creating a little cross traffic. Check out the site and let me know what you think.
