Aaron Brooks Still Unemployed
At the beginning of the season, Ted Thompson decided to keep just two quarterbacks on the roster, backup Aaron Rodgers and starter Brett Favre. Now that it is Week 11, TT decided to get around to filling that hole.
The Packers invited six unsigned players to an open tryout this week, including former New Orleans Saints starter Aaron Brooks. Just the thought of Brooks in a Packer uniform again took me right back to 1999 and nearly sent me into seizures. “No, no, no!” I yelled. Thankfully it looks like the danger has past.
According to the Press-Gazette, Brooks’ workout didn’t go so well because he’s still healing from a strained pectoral muscle suffered last season with the Raiders. Coach McCarthy, who was offensive coordinator with the Saints from 2000 to 2004, said afterwards, “We just wanted to see what kind of shape he was in,” as in “I was there when you threw that backwards pass to the offensive lineman, remember?”

It’s a damn shame that all you can bring up is a botched pass and not his career numbers of 123 Td and 90 ints. Yeah he has forced some passes in his career like many other current NFL QBs: Testaverde, E. Manning, Rattay, and countless others. Even Brett “my O-line never gets a holding penalty” Favre has forced passes and made bad reads. Yeah Brooks doesn’t compare to him but he’s already proven throughout his career that he can get the job done. I know no one will respond except to defend Favre but NFL life will continue with the Sage Rosenfels’, Todd Boumans, Jared Lorenzens, Tim Rattays, Brooks Bollingers, Josh McCowns, and Vinny Testaverdes of the world. Same ‘ole good ole boys club.
