Manning Might Still Be Master Of His Domain

The cast of Seinfeld, Eli Manning's favorite showBy now you’ve all probably heard the story of the local FOX affiliate in Green Bay that plans to pull its airing of a Seinfeld episode on Saturday because apparently it is the favorite show of one Eli Manning. Well now comes word that Manning the Younger might not have to go without his daily dose of Jerry and George and Kramer after all.

According to the New York Daily News (by way of today’s link dump on the Journal Sentinel’s Packer Blog), Sony is sending Lil’ Eli a DVD player and the Seinfeld DVD collection so he can still watch the show there in his Wisconsin hotel room. What a sweet gesture on the part of a multi-billion dollar international conglomerate, except now you know someone in the Badger state will call for a boycott of all things Sony.

And while we’re on the subject, maybe we should boycott the TODAY Show as well. The wife tells me that host Matt Lauer spotted a group of smiling, happy ladies from Green Bay in the crowd outside the studio and cracked wise by saying “they won’t be smiling for long.”

Big cities make for a ton of bandwagoning. Lauer is just symptomatic of the person who doesn’t really follow the team jumping on at the last second.

As a New Yorker, I agree about the bandwagon jumping, but to be sure this is a HUGE Giants town, and people follow the Giants pretty closely (even if just to complain). I would put them second to the Yankees in the sports hierarchy here.
