Favre Will Speak Words We Don’t Want To Hear

Unless he has a big change of heart before 11 o’clock today, Brett Favre will make his retirement officially official at a press conference at Lambeau Field. He and Deanna will be in Green Bay to address the media and the fans, answer a few questions, and then I presume they’ll return to Mississippi for good.

If the Packers had a sense of the dramatic, they’d stage this like the President and First Family leaving the White House for the last time. No. 4 and Deanna could shake hands with everyone as they exit the stadium, and then they’d wave to the crowd on their way out to a waiting helicopter. The chopper would lift off the ground slowly and solemnly and then fly out over the city to a private plane at the airport.

Come to think of it, how do the Packers plan to spirit Favre out of the city? I wouldn’t be surprised if a mob of fans surrounded the stadium to make sure he could never leave.
