Brandon Chillar Now A Packer

The long wait is over for the Green Bay Packers to make a move in free agency: Brandon Chillar has signed with the team. Ted Thompson signed the former Rams linebacker to a two-year deal worth somewhere north of $5 million.

It seems like forever ago that Chillar’s name first came up as a free agent target but a lot of observers thought he’d take an offer from the Arizona Cardinals. Now we’ll have some competition to watch as he battles for a starting spot on the strong side against Brady Poppinga, who is entering the final year of his contract.

I’ve been a supporter of Poppinga for a while, but if Chillar shows he can cover a TE without help from the safety then I’m all for making a change.
