Packers Show Grant The Money

Mo money, mo problems for Ryan Grant

Mo money, mo problems for Ryan Grant

After five months of stalemate and a one-week holdout from training camp, Ryant Grant and the Packers have finally come to terms on a new contract. See, now that wasn’t so hard, was it?

The four-year deal pays Grant $3.5 million in roster bonuses this season and includes enough incentives and escalators to pay out $30 million in total. We know all these details because his agent Alan Herman, who has been negotiating his client’s contract in the press for weeks, was kind enough to provide them to every newspaper in the state. (A complete douchebag to the end, Herman told the Press-Gazette yesterday, “I think when the $1.75 million got out there, and maybe I shouldn’t say this, but it probably embarrassed them.”)

The important thing, though, is the Packers now have Grant on the roster and he’ll be in camp for practice on Tuesday. With Brandon Jackson showing big improvement this off-season, the Packers might just have that dominant running game Mike McCarthy has been talking about for two years.

Now if we can just clear up that mess with a certain retired quarterback, maybe we can get back to talking football instead of accounting and NFL collective bargaining proceedures.
