Leaks And The Leaking Leakers Who Leak Them

It looks like Ari Fleischer the Green Bay Packers have tabbed Yahoo! Sports’ Michael Silver for the job being their mouthpiece in the press. He has a pretty interesting column full of juicy details from Mike McCarthy’s extended conversation with Brett Favre Monday night and Tuesday morning. According to Silver:

  • It was MM who convinced Favre that playing for the Vikings was not going to happen
  • Favre interrupted the meeting to take a phone call from Deanna
  • MM confronted Favre directly about their conversations being leaked to the press

That last item is maybe the most interesting, considering it’s printed in an article full of details from a confidential conversation leaked by Fleischer the team to Silver. Kettle, meet black. But then I guess that’s the way it’s going to go for the next several weeks.

Overall, Silver paints a glowing picture of MM as the decisive, take charge guy in all this, who basically demanded and forced the issue to an end. I don’t doubt for a moment that MM was completely fed up with the whole thing by the time his Monday meeting came around, and who better to convince Favre he needed to accept the reality of the situation than his football coach. That’s about the only form of authority No. 4 will actually respect.

Well, well. Interesting read from Mr. Silver. I’m just glad he’s gone and he’s the Jets problem now. Though I admit I was willing to consider forgiving all this if he was willing to prove he deserved what he was asking for by earning it in camp, after THAT was exposed I say good riddance.
