Trash Talk From Up Norse

Hat tip to fellow Packer fan and friend of the site MC for posting on Michael Silver’s latest column from Vikings training camp where they seem to be singly-focused on producing bulletin board material for the season opener in Green Bay.

Pat Williams says about Aaron Rodgers, “when we go down there it’ll be the kid’s first start and his first damn loss,” while free agent acquisition Jared Allen adds, “Hopefully, I can put my helmet square in the back of his spine.” Those quotes should look good posted in the Packers locker room. (Note to Mike McCarthy: I’d suggest two-a-day drills on picking up the blitz — especially for Brandon Jackson — otherwise Allen’s wet dream of paralyzing our quarterback might come true.)

In other Norse notes in the Packers blogosphere, Andy at packergeeks warns us this morning not to overlook the Vikes young quarterback Tavaris Jackson. No doubt Jackson will show some improvement after a year in that system (God help him if he regresses), but I still don’t see TJ being the terror of North Division, especially not with Gerald McRaney look-alike Brad Childress still calling the shots.

Now our division foes seems to be licking their chops like beasts of prey ready to pounce on fresh meat.

I guess it’s to be expected, but Jesus, Pat Williams and Jared Allen sound like hit men salivating over a potential kill…
