Getting Fatter But Not As Fast
According to a new study, Wisconsin continues to rank in the upper half of the country for adult obesity, but the good news is the rate of increase has slowed to less than a percent. From the Business Journal of Milwaukee:
More Wisconsin adults are obese now than a year ago, but residents of America’s Dairyland aren’t gaining weight as fast as other Americans.
So says a report issued Tuesday by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the Trust for America’s Health, adding that adult obesity rates rose in 37 states in the last year. They did not decline in any state.
Wisconsin, which saw its obesity rate rise 0.7 percent, ranked 25th on the list, with 25.5 percent of its adults obese. The state slid in the national rankings from 22nd a year ago.
So give yourselves a round of applause, Wisconsin; cutting back on cheese curds to every other meal is starting to pay off.
