Honoring The Moment
Despite the fact that Tony Kornheiser managed to corner the market on Favre bloviation, it is worth noting — without hyperbole — the historic nature of last night’s game. For the first time since 1992, someone other than Brett Favre led the offense out onto Lambeau Field. Sixteen seasons is a ridiculously long time with one guy playing under center, a testament not only to Favre’s ability to bounce back after injuries and play at a high level, but also to the Packers organization that surrounded him with enough talent all those years so that he could be that successful.
Cheesehead Aaron put up a nice post yesterday detailing how much his life has changed during the Favre era, and while my own personal journey the past 16 years hasn’t been nearly as exciting it still boggles my mind how much the world has changed while Brett Favre remained the one constant. Packer Nation was uniquely blessed with that stability, but the proper way to honor that history is to make sure that this new chapter is as good as the last.
