Favre: Total B.S.
Brett Fave responded today to a FOX Sports story Sunday about him passing information to the Lions before the Packers played Detroit in Week 2. Peter King reports that Favre told him via text message the story is “total bs.” Or, really? Just like those reports that your agent was sniffing around for a trade just weeks after your retirement were total B.S.? Just like the stories in late June that you were considering coming out of retirement were total B.S.?
I have to agree, though, if Favre mentored the Lions coaching staff on Green Bay’s offensive tendencies, that is total B.S. It may not have violated the NFL rules and bylaws, but passing along inside information to other teams is a complete slap in the face to all Packer fans and the franchise he once played for.
Don’t get me wrong, two or three years from now when they finally do retire that #4 jersey and install his name at the top of Lambeau Field, I’m sure I’m be crying like a big old baby. But there might be a tear or two fewer than there would have been otherwise.

If Chris Mortensen or Peter King reported this, I guess I’d have to believe it. But I don’t believe anything Jay Glazer says (or Fox in general, for that matter). Even if it WAS true, I could hardly blame him, after the way the Three Stooges (Ted T., Mike M. and Mark M.) threw him out of Green Bay. What an insult!
Yeah, I hope I’m sitting next to you, when they retire Brett’s jersey, so we can cry on each other’s shoulder!

Susan,
You realize Mort and King are Favre mouthpieces, right? Glazer doesn’t run a story unless he has it cold. He had the Pats videotape - he had the Favre trade, the list goes on and on.
This is true. And Favre is being a complete asshole.

Susan,
What exactly makes you not trust Glazer? Is it the fact that he has been right about nearly every Favre story in the past 8 months or so? The way he broke the Spygate story? The way he broke Mike Nolan getting fired? As Aaron said, Mort and Peter King (who I think is a great writer) are definitely Favre mouthpieces, and even Peter King seems to not believe his BFF Brett this time. Pretty damning, imo

I can’t say I trust any of them implicitly (especially not Mort), but the way Glazer is defending the story plus the fact that the Lions have not denied it makes me believe there is something here. And we can blame him for this no matter how you see the trade to NY.

I agree it would be a slap in the face, but I don’t believe Favre gave the Lions (or any other team) any inside information to help the Packers’ opponents win. This whole story is stupid - just a teaser to rile up Packer fans. After having Favre as our QB for 17 years, do you really think he’s the type of guy to do that? And wavering on returing to the NFL (Favre’s biggest “sin”) does NOT constitute whatsoever something so low as to sabotage a former team.
