No Mas, No Moss

Butch from the blog From The Cheap Seats left a question here today about the Randy Moss trade that didn’t happen, and rather than bury my answer in the comments I thought I’d go ahead and post on it.
To be honest, I was relieved that the Patriots and Bill Belichek will have the task of [...]

Reaching, Hoping And Praying

With the NFL Draft finally over, the one thing I can say with some certainty is that I really have to have the NFL Network for next year’s draft coverage. I caught a little bit through NFL.com on Saturday and while it wasn’t Emmy-award winning material it was far superior to ESPN’s over-the-top hype and [...]

Still Not Convinced About This Draft

I’ve been pouring over various reports on the Interweb for any information that will make me feel better about the way this draft is going for the Packers but I’m still not feeling the love like I was hoping to. The patrons over at the Wisconsin Sports Bar seem optimistic about Justin Harrell, putting him [...]

WTF? Green Bay Takes Justin Harrell

Oh, that crafty Ted Thompson, always zigging when everyone else is zagging.
Defying all predictions and tea leaf readings, the Packers general manager selected defensive tackle Justin Harrell with the 16th pick of the NFL Draft. I’m not sure what to think of our draft day guru now. Harrell played for Tennessee and was well regarded [...]

Joe Thomas: Gone Fishin’

Just one more week to go before the NFL draft, and I’m sure all those top prospects are busy getting themselves to New York for meet-and-greets, hand shaking, nose rubbing and all other manner of league PR stuff. Well, all of them except Joe Thomas.
According to a story this week from NFL.com, the Wisconsin standout [...]

Will Marshawn Lynch Be Wearing Green & Gold?

In about 12 days we’ll all be getting plastered with wall-to-wall coverage of the 2007 NFL Draft, from draft previews, reviews of past drafts, and draft postmortems. It will be two or three solid days of ESPN and NFL Network personalities screaming their heads off, all trying to get the scoop on what’s [...]

Right On Schedule

The NFL finally released its schedule for the 2007 season with much fanfare yesterday (did ESPN really have to do a two-hour special?) so now we can see what our lives will look like the final four months of the year. For us Packer fans, it looks like we might be in for a bumpy [...]

A Little More Green And Gold For Mr. Barnett

Some good news out of Packerland as Nick Barnett gets his contract extension. Green Bay signed the veteran MLB to a five-year extension yesterday reportedly worth $35 million, including about $11 million in guaranteed money. That sounds just about right considering Barnett’s stats and what some other linebackers have been getting in recent deals.
It’s good [...]

Putting My Football Jones On Ice

Sweet Geebus do I miss football. Can’t we get the season started a little early this year? I’m so incredibly bored I might have to start watching NFL Europa. (And when did it become NFL “Europa” anyway? They should call it NFL Germany & The Netherlands.)
I did have a nice respite from the long darkness [...]

Barnett: The Good Guy

With nary a free agent signing in the offing and no protracted Brett Favre tractor watch to obsess over, this has been the quietest, boringest off-season is many, many years. How long until the draft?
But there is at least some good news coming out of Packerland, namely that Nick Barnett is taking the high road [...]
