However much Ari Fleischer’s retainer fee is, it’s too much for the Packers to be paying at least as far as Ted Thompson’s press conferences are concerned: The man can be pretty good on his own.
There were two interesting exchanges with reporters today, the first began with a question (I think from Jason Wilde) about [...]
There must be something about DeShawn Wynn that Ted Thompson really likes, because the former Florida Gator was one of eight players signed by the Packers to the practice squad. This baffles me a little because Wynn so far has pretty much been a washout since his selection in the 2007 draft due to a [...]
Mike Sherman — remember him? — got off to a rough start as head coach at Texas A&M yesterday, with the Aggies falling to Arkansas State of the Sun Belt Conference 18-14. Aggieland was done in by turnovers and a failure to put the game away after taking a 14-3 lead in the first half. [...]
We might be in the middle of a long holiday weekend, but this will not be a day of rest for Ted Thompson. There are still some holes to fill in the Packers 53-man roster, signings for the practice squad, and a press conference scheduled for 2pm.
The top priority on Ted’s list is to find [...]
Getting rid of both Herron and Morency? That gives us a VERY young backfield. Combine that with the age of all of our QB’s and we’ve got a group of kids who have no idea who the ThunderCats are.
Hat’s off to Railbird Central for illustrating the youth of Green Bay’s roster while making me feel [...]

The Packers announced their final roster reductions late today. The biggest surprise to me was that Vernand Morency was released. Also, the news that long snapper J.J. Jansen was placed on injured reserve means there are still some roster moves left to make this weekend.
Here’s one of those moments that makes you very happy the Green Bay Packers franchise is a publicly-owned non-profit corporation. Real estate developer Ed Roski Jr. is in the market for an NFL team to take up residence in a new stadium he is planning to build in City of Industry outside Los Angeles. According [...]

Bob Wolfley, who is hit and miss with the Journal Sentinel sports media coverage, nailed it in his Thursday piece on changes ESPN is making to Monday Night Football for this season. The WWL during the off-season held focus groups to find out what people want to see during the weekly primetime game broadcast, and [...]
While prognostication is really not my strong suit, I’ve been trying to work out who the Packers will keep for their 53-man roster and I have to say I do not envy Ted Thompson right now. (Okay, maybe a little; the guy runs the greatest football team in the world after all.) Most of my [...]
A new college football season got underway last night and the alma mater started off on the right foot with a big 44-17 victory over the Summit League powerhouse South Dakota State Jackrabbits. Hey, a win is a win in my book.
